Position Summary

The Transportation Outbound Strategy Manager is responsible for developing and governing enterprise outbound transportation strategies that improve service, on-time delivery, transportation cost, network capacity, driver utilization, and trailer utilization across the CVS Health distribution network. The role partners with Transportation, Distribution Center Operations, Supply Chain Planning, Inventory Management, and Store Operations to identify and implement strategic initiatives that enhance network performance and support enterprise objectives. The manager serves as a subject matter expert in transportation optimization, routing strategy, transportation technology, and operational design while leading cross-functional efforts focused on continuous improvement and long-term network efficiency. The role leverages enterprise tools, including Trimble Appian and A.I. tools to enable scalable workflows, improve visibility, and drive consistent execution across the network.

This role does not manage people but is required to establish and develop relationships, processes and partnerships. Role manages multiple projects and influences leaders, managers, and key stakeholders (internal & external). Role manages tight deadlines and production demands. Role is a key liaison across the business and Supply Chain.

Required Qualifications

5+ years of Transportation systems or systems and process background is required.

5+ Years of broad transportation & supply chain knowledge. Role needs to drive shared sense of urgency and detail orientation across systems, people, and processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong communication skills (verbal/written) is essential. Ability to frame and drive shared goals. Ability to multi-task numerous objectives at one time. Ability to think and operate independently and with high level stakeholders.

Innovative and creative thinking to drive solutions for continuous process improvement in system and process demands. Role must compliment TMS system or other SC&L or enterprise initiatives while driving consistent improvements YoY.

  • Experience with Trimble “Appian”, Omnitracs, Manhattan, Descartes, Blue Yonder, or similar routing technologies.

  • Knowledge of trailer cube optimization, load planning, network optimization, and transportation analytics

  • Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement experience

Education:

High School degree, AS Degree preferred.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$66,330.00 - $145,860.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
