Job Description

The Expert Electrical Engineer leads the engineering and construction of large-scale clean energy projects, providing technical leadership across solar, power, and broader electrical power initiatives. This role oversees multiple concurrent projects from design through commissioning, ensuring they are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget, while collaborating closely with EPC contractors, landowners, and internal stakeholders. The position offers the opportunity to shape major clean energy assets for a stable, forward-thinking organization and to mentor a team of technical and project management professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee construction activities with EPC contractors, landlords, and tenants to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.

  • Manage large-scale projects ranging from approximately 2 MW to 150 MW, with capital values up to $150M.

  • Typically oversee 1–4 concurrent projects, including direct oversight of onsite project management staff.

  • Manage and coordinate the negotiation and execution of EPC agreements across clean energy platforms.

  • Lead a team of technical and project management professionals in the construction of various clean energy projects.

  • Manage procurement activities, as applicable, to ensure materials and services are delivered on time and within budget.

  • Oversee the review and approval of electrical and construction engineering plans to ensure technical quality and compliance with standards.

  • Develop, review, and approve project commissioning plans and test procedures for new and existing assets.

  • Oversee the implementation of major operations and maintenance (O&M) outages for clean energy ventures assets.

  • Oversee construction permitting and interconnection processes, coordinating with utilities and regulatory bodies as needed.

  • Oversee and manage landowner issues at various project sites, maintaining positive relationships and resolving concerns promptly.

  • Assist with the preparation of reports and presentations for Expert leadership, providing clear updates on project status, risks, and opportunities.

  • Build and maintain effective internal and external relationships, fostering collaboration, accountability, and teamwork across project stakeholders.

  • Apply Expert-level electrical design expertise, particularly in electrical power systems, to guide project decisions and resolve complex technical issues.

  • Specify electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, and reclosers, and determine appropriate cable and conduit sizes for project designs.

  • Provide guidance on solar PV system and layout design where applicable, and support integration of solar assets into broader power systems.

  • Ensure project documentation, including schematics and electrical drawings, is accurate, complete, and aligned with project requirements.

  • Travel to remote project locations throughout the Northeast as needed to support site activities, inspections, and stakeholder meetings.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $165000.00/yr.
