Full job description
This position is responsible for providing security at the Tax Commissioner’s Office.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. The following duties are representative of the work required for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Maintains order for taxpayers
- Maintains the security of the Tax Office by conducting security checks in the building and outside perimeter checks; escorts employees to their cars when requested.
- Locks and unlocks doors as needed.
- Checks and resets alarms on doors.
- Provides directions and assistance to the general public.
- Evacuates the building in the event of a fire or bomb threat; guards entrances until threat ends.
- Answers and announces panic alarms in the offices.
- Monitors security video and acts upon threats.
- Performs other related duties as assigned. The Building Security Officer should possess a high school diploma or GED, with a minimum of three (3) years in security, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid Georgia Motor Vehicle Operator’s License. Preferred: Mandated Georgia Peace Officer in Good Standing

TRAVEL:
The Building Security Officer may be required to travel on occasion.
The Building Security Officer must be knowledgeable of the following principles, procedures, and concepts:
- Proven knowledge of the procedures of security operations.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality and security of private or confidential information.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with members of all levels within the organization and public.
- Demonstrated ability to show good judgement, consistency, timeliness and respect in decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve results on a timely basis.
