Lead Driver
Department: Operations
Reports to: Driver Manager
Location - North Attleboro
Salary - $50,000 per year
Hours - Working Monday - Friday from 4am to around 1pm
Modern Milkman started as a single milkround. Today, we're a global platform helping hundreds of thousands of households run their homes more simply - and more sustainably. From doorstep deliveries to reducing waste and supporting local producers, we make doing the right thing the easiest option. No extra effort, no extra trips, just everyday decisions that add up to real impact.
The Role
You'll be the driving force (pun intended) that gets the hub out the door every morning on time and in top shape. As a Lead Driver, your primary focus is running an efficient, effective load out—aiming to have every driver loaded and rolling in under 30 minutes. You'll set the pace for the team, keeping the morning sharp and the energy high.
Whether you're coaching a new driver, running your own route, or making sure the last pallet is squared away for the DC driver, you don't mind getting stuck in. You lead by example and understand that the little things—like a clean hub, a tidy fleet, and a strong morning huddle—make a massive difference in whether the day goes smoothly or falls apart.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Efficient Load Out: Managing the morning load out end to end, keeping it slick and under 30 minutes, and making sure every driver is loading correctly and getting away on time.
Team Leadership & Culture: Building a hub where drivers actually want to work efficiently—running morning meetings, holding driver 1-to-1s, and keeping OTIFIQ performance high through clear, consistent coaching.
Training & Development: Onboarding and training new drivers, leaning on your high performers to help bring the next generation up to speed.
Hub Cleanliness: Ensuring the hub is spotless and every piece of equipment is put away after load out—and that it's clean and ready for the DC driver to collect pallets.
On the Road: Running a small route yourself every day, then returning to the hub to help close it out properly.
Fleet Maintenance: Keeping the fleet in good shape and making sure vehicles go in for service before problems become breakdowns.
Our Expectations
To keep the hub running like a well-oiled machine, we expect all team leads to hold themselves to the following standards:
Leading From the Front: You set the tone. If you want drivers on time, loaded fast, and taking pride in their work, that starts with you modeling it every single morning.
Paid Time Off (PTO): To ensure we have adequate coverage to hit our delivery targets, a minimum of 2 weeks' notice is required for all PTO requests.
The Metrics That Matter
Load Out Time: Consistently under 30 minutes
OTIFIQ: Maintained at or above target across the driver team
Cleanliness: 0 missed cleaning checks per week—hub and fleet ready to go every day
The Bottom Line: This is a hands-on, lead-from-the-front role for someone who loves a fast, sharp morning, takes real pride in their team's performance, and knows that a well-run hub starts and ends with strong leadership on the floor.
