Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Job Description
This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing heavy production machinery and equipment to manufacturer specifications. You will disassemble and assemble machine components, diagnose complex issues across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and diesel systems, and perform preventive maintenance to keep equipment running safely and efficiently. You will rely on equipment manuals, work orders, and diagnostic tools to plan and execute repairs and service activities.
Responsibilities

Disassemble and assemble machine components to manufacturer specifications using appropriate hand and power tools.

Perform troubleshooting and repairs on production machines, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

Conduct preventive maintenance and general machine upkeep to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.

Use diagnostic laptop computers, gauges, and instruments to detect faults in electronics, hydraulics, power train, engines, and overall machine performance.

Read and interpret equipment manuals, technical documentation, and work orders to determine required maintenance and service procedures.

Perform necessary maintenance and repairs based on troubleshooting results and diagnostic findings.

Carry out diesel engine diagnosis and repair tasks as needed.

Support automotive-style repair work related to heavy equipment when required.

Perform welding repairs when necessary, using appropriate tools and techniques (welding experience is a plus).

Execute routine and scheduled preventive maintenance activities across various machines.

Collaborate with team members to coordinate repairs, share information, and ensure efficient workflow.

Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and issues identified as directed by company processes.

Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working in the shop, outdoors, and at client sites.
Essential Skills

Hands-on experience performing mechanical repairs on heavy equipment or production machinery.

Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components on various machines.

Ability to diagnose and repair diesel engines and related systems.

Experience using diagnostic laptop computers, gauges, and instruments to identify faults in machine systems.

Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, technical diagrams, and work orders.

Strong electrical troubleshooting skills in an industrial or equipment repair setting.

Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices for heavy machinery and production equipment.

Ability to perform general automotive repair tasks related to heavy equipment when required.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with coworkers.

Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Welding repair experience is a plus and may be used for structural or component repairs.

Experience with diesel repair and diagnosis in a shop or field environment.

Experience working with power train systems, engines, and hydraulics on heavy machinery.

Comfort working with both hand tools and power tools for disassembly and assembly of equipment.

Openness to cross-training and learning new technical skills such as CNC operation or welding.

Ability to adapt to different types of machines and equipment in a production environment.

Work Environment

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $56160.00/yr.
