The Department of the Interior is devoted to protecting and preserving the natural resources of this great nation, including National Parks, Landmarks, and the well-being of communities, including those of Native American, Alaska Natives and affiliated Islanders. Minimum Qualifications Requirements: Specialized Experience To qualify for the GS-15, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: Leading and managing regulatory and policy management program for a Department, bureau or office. Providing review and coordination to ensure timely accomplishment of regulatory and policy objectives. Briefing senior Department and other officials regarding regulations and policy matters. Facilitating the federal rulemaking process in coordination with Office of Management and Budget, the Federal Register and other stakeholders. Merit Promotion candidates must also meet Time-in-Grade requirements by the closing date of the announcement. This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Office of the Secretary (OS),Office of the Executive Secretariat & Regulatory Affairs, located in Washington, DC). This is a Schedule Policy/Career position. At the full performance level GS-15 the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Provides leadership and management for the Department's regulatory and policy management activities Maintains oversight for programs and projects to ensure adequate and timely accomplishment, adherence to established policies and initiates corrective action as required. Guides the development of strategic planning for Departmental functions related to regulatory affairs and policy management. Advises senior Department officials in the development of regulations and policies. Manages the Departmental regulatory relationship with OMB, the Executive Office of the President, the Federal Register, and other agencies. Provides supervision to the regulatory affairs and policy management staff. Salary Information GS-15: $169,279 - $197,200 per annum. *First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level. This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available. Conditions of Employment You must be a U.S. Citizen. You will be subject to a background/suitability investigation/determination. You will be required to have federal payments made by Direct Deposit.
