This position is part of the Government Secure and Intelligent Documents, Government Publishing Office in Washington, District of Columbia. To qualify for the Lead Documents Inspection Technician, PG-1801-9, you must meet the following requirements: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the PG-07 grade level in the Federal Service that includes: 1) using quality assurance methods, principles, and practices including statistical analysis and sampling techniques; 2) interpreting and applying product specifications, technical data, regulations, and other guideline materials; or 3) understanding of warehouse operations: including forklift operation, shipping and receiving, storage and issue. OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement (08/12/2026) to be considered. Oversee routine daily operations to ensure the analysis and documentation of all manufacturing waste from passport and secure card production. Ensure waste, returned passports, and returned secure cards from the U.S. Department of State's (DOS) issuing agencies and other various government agencies are documented. Assign work and provides oversight and guidance to PPWs and DITs to ensures work is completed in compliance with security protocols. Reconcile passport chips by production batch, initiates investigation of any discrepancies in chip count and notifies management. Assist in preparing product quality reports. Security clearance required: Secret
Education Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may be used for this grade level. Are you using your education to qualify? GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study. FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
