You will serve as a SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY, HEALTH, AND ENVIRONMENT DEPARTMENT of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. SALARY RANGES: GS-11: $77,964 - $101,359 GS-9: $64,438 - $83,774 GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector assisting in the planning of and/or conducting occupational safety inspections and/or occupational health surveys of workplaces where the types of health hazards are commonly anticipated. GS-9: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector assisting in the planning of and/or conducting occupational safety inspections and/or occupational health surveys of workplaces where the types of health hazards are anticipated. You will perform Occupational Safety and Health Program functions to ensure effective and efficient implementation of standards and regulations. You will identify, analyze, and evaluate mishaps statistics, investigative reports, a variety of hazards, and other data involving changing work operations, diverse environmental conditions and manpower machine relations. You will assist with the development of training material or awareness bulletins o ensure all employees are aware of Occupational Safety and Health standards and regulations. You will provide oversight of work to ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health standards and regulations. You will perform inspections of facilities and work spaces. You will coordinate the performance of required inspections, checkpoints, or audits. You will respond to mishaps, near miss incidents, and unsafe/unhealthful conditions. Education In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: GS-11: Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology. OR Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.
