INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT MECHANIC

You will serve as a INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT MECHANIC in the Utilities Management Division of NAVAL STATION. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: I am able to perform some tasks including: 1) Performing preventive maintenance and inspection on equipment for water pumping and booster stations in order to identify excessive wear and deterioration; 2) Troubleshooting water plant equipment and system to diagnose malfunction and determine best method of repair; 3) Using various test equipment and measuring devices such as precision gauges, flow meters, IR thermometers, stroboscopic timers, and vibration analyzers to determine pump conditions. I work under supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who reviews my work for completion. You will visit work sites to analyze, evaluate, and determine course of action when planning repairs and modification projects. You will determine water system configuration/lineup to effect repairs in an efficient manner. You will perform preventative maintenance services. Security clearance required: Secret
